Team 17 will port their turn-based intergalactic strategy warfare on the Wii
next spring.
Since its debut in 1994, Team 17’s boneless warriors have made a mess of
this planet, decimating each other's troops with weapons and each other’s
spirits with nonsensical taunts. Recently, Team 17 catapulted its worms onto the
next generation consoles with Worms for the Xbox 360. For its follow-up console
performance, Team 17 will be taking the Worms series in a new direction with
Nintendo's "new-generation" technology.
THQ announced that Worms: A Space Oddity will be available for Nintendo’s
Wii in spring 2008. Apparently getting a ride on the rockets they're so keen on
launching, the worms will battle on an intergalactic scale across six distinct
planets, each of which has different environments and situations.
Further diverging from past installments, Worms: A Space Oddity will drift away
from its traditional art style for a sci-fi look. The game will also
incorporate the Wii's motion-based controls into the traditional turn-based
strategy gameplay, and will have online multiplayer for up to four players.
Worms: A Space Oddity has not been rated by ESRB yet and has not yet received a
pricing.
