Game News - Wii Games, More Wii Games! At $49.99

20 Wii games - and that's coming from just three top publishers: Ubisoft (with 7 Wii titles, surprisingly), Midway (6) and Electronic Arts (7). The latest title to make the news this week is Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, which, in addition to the previously known PS2 and Xbox versions (due in October 2006), has also been confirmed for Nintendo's "new-gen" console, with a tentative release date set in early 2007. I wonder what they're gonna call (and execute!) a "Fatality" on the Wii...

All in all, Midway is currently planning 6 Wii games, as revealed by Midway president David Zucker at the Ziff Davis Electronic Games Summit - the same venue at which Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc announced the company had a total of 7 Wii titles currently in development. Considering that we only knew about 2 Ubisoft games for the Wii (Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids), it certainly comes as a surprise that the French publisher is planning plenty more, which we're dying to know more about!

Electronic Arts, in its turn, is also working on 7 Wii games, out of which it will probably ship 2 for the Wii launch period - Madden NFL 07 and Need for Speed Carbon. Or maybe a couple more, we'll see. The rest of them are expected over the fiscal year ending March 2007, according to the company's Q1 results issued yesterday.

But most importantly, EA's report also reveals that first-party Wii titles would not be priced at more than $49.99, as indicated by Nintendo. However, it will be up to individual game publishers to decide pricing for their own titles. Though hopefully $50 will be as high as they'll go. Otherwise, what's the point of a cheaper next-gen console?

In other Wii news, today we have the first Sonic Wild Fire screenshots for you, while Gameworld has the second - and final - part of their "Ultimate Wii Rumour Compilation" (part 1 here).
