I must admit that I was looking forward for this minor release, only to find out that I wasn't fast enough to grab it at the right time. Groove Six Studio and Team Terminator apologies followed the recent situation where the released 0.49b version of TC:E has been pulled out from the official downloading servers. The problems encountered are not by any means major ones, but enough to stop the project early in order to get a hot fix publicly in the next couple of days.
"Due to a breakdown in communication a shader file for a future release of Delta was included which should not have been. This unfortunately has caused some unexpected results in the form of the skybox and grass shaders in Delta not work properly."
Okay, that's really a bummer, as the patch named "0.49b" is not only a bug fix to common problems experienced with 0.49, but also the carrier of the free-aim system and extra video modes, as well as a few other goodies. Those of you who currently have the "old" 0.49b patch will have to postpone their online play, while those who don't have it, should follow the developer’s advice on waiting several more days until the cumulative update is to be released.
In case you have no clue whatsoever regarding the True Combat project, let me run a quick rundown. TC:E is a modern world total conversion modification of the free stand-alone first-person shooter Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, provided with some neat features, including iron sight aiming system (no crosshair involved), free-climbing system, the imminent free-aim system, high-resolution textures, as well as HDR lightning simulation. And that's pretty impressive for an aging graphic engine.
