This week PS3 owners in the US and Europe will have their hands reasonably full with new games to play. So, if you have a nice sum of money stashed in a safe place, where no trivial spending can harm it, now’s the time to let it loose at your local game shopping facility. But first, see if these three games are to your liking.
According to ps3fanboy.com, three are the titles which should be expected this week. More to the point:
Denizens of the USA will have the opportunity of testing their driving skills with Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. But, be warned, this is not really a game, although it’s not a demo either - you may think about it as something in-between. Its true nature is probably that of a marketing gimmick, as it has only a small number of tracks (six, I think, one of them being located in London). Still, the “5” in its tail is well-deserved: the cars are absolutely stunning and the level of photorealism in their design is amazingly high. If you’re a fan of the series and you can’t wait till they release the full game, then go for it.
The Europeans will have two new games to cope with this week as well. One of them is UEFA Euro 2008, so if you’re in a mood for soccer but you were badly injured in your last match, or if you’re just the regular athlete of the couch potato variety, you may be interested in this title. One of its best features would be the “captaincy” thing: playing as an individual “soccerist”, together with a maximum of three friends (hopefully, you have more – if so, make them wait in a line). As you prove yourself on the grassy field of valor, you will get closer and closer to the position of captain. And then, your friends will have to defer to you, just like in real life soccer. Of course, what happens in the locker room is another matter.
Time Crisis 4 is the other game launched this week, also in Europe. It seems to be a pretty fast-paced shooter, and its most distinctive element is the Gun-Con 3 Controller which comes with the game; it’s supposed to be the most advanced of its kind. That, we shall see.
So there you go. That’s the new stuff you’ll be able to play in the following days if you have a PlayStation 3, if you live in the US or in Europe and if you have some money (or very good friends). If you live somewhere else, you’ll need to have a little patience, your turn will come. (Gamers in Alpha Centauri will have to be very patient, I’m afraid.)
