Epic Games president Mark Rein said that there could be a possibility that his company's upcoming PS3 and PC shooter will miss its intended release date.
A grate man once said that only two things are certain in life: death and taxes. But for a while, it looked like the November release of Unreal Tournament 3 was also certain. In its most recent multitude of press releases, publisher Midway said the game would definitely ship for the PC and PlayStation 3 during the month.
Now that November window appears to had opened up, in a thread on Epic Games' official forums, a user asked if a German site countdown timer to the release of Unreal Tournament 3 is authentic. But before the forum-goers could make their time-off requests at work, Epic vice president Mark Rein foiled the midnight release launch party plans.
"We do not know exactly when the game will be completed," Rein wrote. "All we've said is that we're hoping for a November release, but as you know we value getting it right over getting it right now, so there's no guarantee of that."
While the PS3 and PC versions of Unreal Tournament 3 are still scheduled for a November release, the Xbox 360 edition will be available in early 2008.
