We’ve got some new info about Godfather II for all you gangsta’ lovin’ gamers out there. Finally, we are being explained exactly how this sequel will blend action, RPG, RTS and board games in one giant playable lasagna.
As Xbox 360 World (via CVG) tells us, there will be six character types: bruiser, demolitions expert, arsonist, medic, safe cracker and engineer. Their skills and in-game behavior will depend on their specific backgrounds and twelve distinct personality patterns. For instance, the bruiser won’t use broken bottles in a bar fight just because they’re handy, but also because he’s attracted to them, him having an alcoholic “perk”.
Don’s View is a strategic overview of your crime emporium – you can enter it from any point in the game. Here, you can select how and where to distribute your resources and see what’s your competition up to. As for the board game part, it’s when you make some business arrangements ensuring that some nice benefits are gained from certain missions you pull out. For instance, you raid some place and you end up with an armored car. You can also get a percentage from the profit of some businesses and stuff like that.
Anyway, this isn’t the GTA IV clone which many expected it to be. Instead, we seem to be looking at a distinctly original game. And the atmosphere – Miami in the 60’s – will probably be more than a rival to the contemporary Liberty City.
