The Halo movie is set to come out in theatres in 2008. But there is still no news about who is going to direct the new flick.
At one point, the "Lord of the Rings" director, Peter Jackson was supposed to help the adaptation. But then, the news came that he will not, but at least he will be executive-producing it.
Another director who was for a while linked to the project was Guillermo Del Toro, the same man who made "Hellboy" or "Blade II". Him & Halo together died after the director announced that he started his work for a Hellboy sequel.
Still, today it was announced that the Halo movies have a director. Most people have never heard of Neill Blomkamp. He is being described as being "one of the most innovative and original artists currently working in short films and commercial advertising."
It seems that Blomkamp has done some television and film work, mostly as a special effects animator and he was nominated for an Emmy in 2000 for an episode of Dark Angel. He worked on Smallville, Mercy Point, First Wave, and Stargate SG-1.
So there you have it. We'll see if this is for real or another director name will get around Halo - The Movie.
