Our Playful team strikes again, after the massive Internet hysteria created with those pesky Crysis 2 screenshots and the super-natural, monstrous and magical powers of CryENGINE 2.
Now we're ready to give y'all some Half Life 3 goodies, but this time the rumor has more substance and you better pray that it gets real. While we were digging for juicy subjects for our faithful readers we've stumbled upon what appears to be the first Half Life 3 screenshot. Yes, it does bare the Valve watermark (you can see it in the lower right corner of the screenshot) and yes, that is a crowbar... Other than that we're just as friggin' amazed as you are of how the environment looks and we're drooling over our keyboards to see more of this as soon as possible...
But wait, there's more: while we couldn't just wait for Valve to come out and admit the realism of the aforementioned HL3 juiciness, we went even further and came up with another screenshot, even more astounding, but depicting a different hud. Apparently, the latter has been taken in the Half Life 3 demo (OMG OMG ...) and from what we can distinguish there it's full of HDR. If you ask me, that's way too real to be true, but hey, Valve's always managed to surprise us right? Maybe they've finally listened to our prayers and have completely overhauled their Source engine, who knows...
Again, just as with the Crysis screenshots, we warn you that these might just be photoshopped images (especially the second one) so until official confirmation take them with a grain of salt...
While Valve has not made any secret out of the fact that Half Life Episode 3 is in development, and that (thank God!) the Half Life series will NOT end with HL Ep 3, it's obvious that it's still way too soon to have them (even mistakingly) release any screenshots from the upcoming sequel. Yes, leaks are not unfamiliar with Valve (just think of how they've got their HL2 source code stolen), but...well, you know...We'll try to contact them on this one, but in the mean time you should really see these real-life Combines out in the wild...Enjoy!
