Like we already know, and if you didn't you'll know now, the status of Shenmue Online has been flat lined for almost a year. All this came after a bitter fallout between publisher Sega and developer JC Entertainment. But now the project seems to be back on track.
At the China Joy 2006 convention, Yu Suzuki, which is the Shenmue creator, introduced a video clip of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Also he showed off some features, environments, and several minutes of in-game battles.
There is a video for the upcoming game and it can be found on the internet on 4Gamers.com. The movie is long over six minutes and gives a few hints about the game's class system. So, we could find out that each class would be further divided into intermediate and advanced specializations and there will be quests for players to complete. The minigames, such as pottery making, dice, and darts were there too. The three minutes of battle scenes showed several of the 1,000 combat motions. And the enviroment... well, we have from quaint rural towns to huge to modern cities reminiscent of Hong Kong.
The only bummer is that the developer didn't say a thing about a release date.
