Well, it appears that the prequel to the most atmospheric game of 2008 follows the dark path established by his predecessor and gets its first delay... Or not?
A few days ago, videogaming247 obtained a mysterious confirmation from Koch Media (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky's publisher) that the game would be delayed until August 2008. As an avid irradiation fan my self, I immediately e-mailed Oleg Yavorksy, the nice guy from GSC World Games' PR that had confirmed exclusively for Playfuls that Clear Sky will NOT be delayed.
After a long, agonizing wait, the obviously revealing answer came full of wisdom, affection and deep philosophical meanings:
"Hi Dan, Thanks for the question. Good to hear from you!
Take care and keep in touch!-- Best regards, Oleg Yavorsky Senior PR Manager GSC Game World"
...erm, w00t?
Ah, wait, between lines 2 and 3 from his e-mail another stance had crawled: "I should be able to name you the exact release date shortly, we are in discussions here..."
O...K... I said to myself and went on crafting "worst case scenarios", in which meteorologists announce Clear Sky only at the end of the summer...
However, as it usually happens, it's best to go the source to find out the truth. GSC's forums have proven a gold mine until now, and they haven't disappointed me now either: among other details related to the prequel, there's a note there saying that "No, there will be no demo version of Clear Sky. Not all that much time is left before the release, and soon you will be able to experience the full world of STALKER."
So yeah, comparing Mr. Yavorky's answer with the forum post, I'd say Clear Skies are nearer than we thought... Here's to hoping it'll come out in May, as the game's Steampowered page suggests...
