Capcom has recently informed us that the evil lurking inside Umbrella Chronicles eventually forced the Japanese publisher and developer to ship 1 million units worldwide.
It's not like we feel sorry for Capcom, on the contrary... After announcing on October 30 last year that the other Resident Evil (Wii Edition, launched in July 2007) had also shipped 1 million units, the company that also brought us Lost Planet: Extreme Condition now flexes its muscles under the Umbrella Chronicles, showing off with 1 million units shipped. Yeah, it's shipped, NOT sold...
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles becomes the second Wii title in Capcom's arsenal that reaches this height. Overall, since the launch of the RE franchise (in 1996), more than 34.4 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide, all platforms considered. UC is the Japanese publisher's first title to offer support for the Wii Zapper.
In other news, we found out that the shitty gritty movie Resident Evil Extinction, featuring Milla Jovovich, has reaped more than $147 million since its launch in cinemas across the globe last fall. And as if we hadn't had enough deadly infestations to endure until now, it seems Sony Pictures Entertainment (Sony's Hollywood branch and the producers behind RE Extinction) has already put its viruses to intense labor, and we should expect our cinemas to get sick again next year, when the full length CG movie (I bet you'll never guess the title...) Resident Evil Degeneration invades them...
Did I win the bet? Did I?... Huh?... :)
