You might be wondering why it took Bethesda three years to come up with another Pirates of the Caribbean game - and apparently a crappy one for that matter - when in fact the reason is quite obvious: it's all about the booty, mates! The new Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow game has just been released for the PC and PS2, and as the title implies, it's not even based on the upcoming "Dead Man's Chest" movie sequel, but on the original "The Curse of the Black Pearl" from 2003.
PotC: The Legend of Jack Sparrow was developed by 7 Studios and Bethesda Softworks, under license from Buena Vista Games, and places players in the stinky boots of Captain Jack Sparrow (voiced by Johnny Depp himself), Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann.
"Players can hack and slash their way through a dozen locations with fully interactive environments and varied gameplay. Action will take place in a variety of lush, immersive settings, including burning buildings, wrecked ships and moonlit caves.
With co-op multiplayer mode, players can take on the game’s challenges with a friend and play side-by-side. As the game progresses, players will be rewarded with advanced combos and moves to defeat a wide range of new and varied foes." Early review scores give the PS2 version a lousy average of 5/10, leaving it up to our horrified imagination to wonder just how "great" the PC port turned out. An Xbox version of the game was also hinted at some point in the past, but apparently it has since been dropped. Maybe they should have done the same for the other two...
