There are good news and bad news. This one’s bad. Let’s gulp it down quickly and pass on to something else. So, here we go: The sequel to Scarface wasn’t officially announced, but it was nonetheless expected thanks to the odd mechanics of gaming industry rumors. Now, it seems (because nothing is still sure), that there won’t be any such sequel, or at least not in the near future.
The reason for this dark turn of events is corporatish, as you might have expected: according to CVG, Activision Blizzard, caught up in the reorganizing phase which followed the merging between the two companies, has recently confirmed that 100 of developer Radical’s employees should consider themselves sacked.
That means the studio will only have two game teams and that the only titles we’ll be getting from them are Crash Bandicoot and Prototype. This looks a lot like what happened with Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend, but at least we know that these games are going to be published – it remains to be seen by whom. And Highmoon, the studio responsible for The Bourne Conspiracy, will probably be getting the same dose of sacking pills soon.
Ah me boy, the industry of gaming be a harsh mistress...
