Heads up, role-players, Atari and Obsidian are gearing up for a couple of Neverwinter Nights 2 closed public beta tests! One of them will comprise the multiplayer game mode only, and you can read about it in this topic from the BioWare forums. Meanwhile, the second beta will only deal with the game's toolset, which allows you to create your own modules and play your own adventures - details in this other topic.
Atari's usual Betatest.net webiste is currently on vacation, so the sign-ups will be handled a little differently for Neverwinter Nights 2. In order to sign up for the beta, fans are being directed either to this NWN2 Multiplayer Beta Test page, or the Toolset Beta Test page. Or both.
Just be warned that if you are selected for this beta test, you will be under a strict non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which means you cannot discuss the product outside of Atari's dedicated private beta forum at www.ataricommunity.com. Oh and before you sign-up, see if you have a 3 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, and a graphics card vaguely resembling an ATI AMD Radeon X800, or nVidia GeForce 6800... though more modest systems should also meet their requirements.
Unfortunately we have no idea when the beta duo will begin, but I'm guessing it should kick off in about a month. After all, the final version of NWN 2 won't be ready in time for a September release anyway. Instead, the game will be launching on October 17 in the US, and October 20 in Europe.
