The Mortal Kombat games are known for being overkill games. They let players not only defeat their opponents, but slaughter them in gruesome and humiliating ways. So it's "normal" that the next game in the series will not have a limited premium edition, but will have four.
This is what Midaway announced today - the PlayStation 2 Premium Edition version of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will arrive in stores this October. It will have a selection of metallic covers: three of them will feature some of the series' character and one will have the standard edition's cover art. The pairs that will appear on the three of the covers are Kano and Sonya, Sindel and Shao Kahn, and Johnny Cage and Goro.
The Premium Edition will cost $49.95 and will include a full playable version of the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 arcade game, more than an hour of bonus videos with pieces on the history of fatalities and "animation cell cover art" autographed by franchise creator, Ed Boon.
The release is set to be made in October 9 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The Wii will follow months later, in the beginning of 2007.
