Funcom is pleased to announce that its blood-and-gore-filled MMORPG Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures has stirred the interest of more than 500,000 gamers worldwide.
The number is composed of people signing for beta-testing and people who have joined the ‘Clan of Conan’ official fan club. To adequately respond to the massive enthusiasm and to support the launch in all of these territories, Funcom decided to translate the English content from its official sites into Spanish, French and German.
"The massive attention Age of Conan is generating throughout the international gaming community is simply amazing," said Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. "The game seems to be already striking a chord with gamers across the world and we are thrilled and motivated by all the positive feedback we have been getting from both the press and the community."
Funcom is happy also because gamers' interest boosts its pre-launch bug-testing work. The game has already been delayed twice before, and bugs have been quoted as the main reason.
The MMORPG is consistently mentioned as one of the most anticipated PC games in development. It has received more than twenty covers on high-profile gaming magazines across the globe and more than fifteen major awards, including numerous "Best MMO of E3" awards and the official "Best Online Game" award at the Games Convention 2007. Age of Conan is a key title in Microsoft's Games for Windows line-up, and a showcase title for nVidia. The game is set to launch in several territories on May 20th, 2008.
