Game News - LucasArts And Traveller's Tales Whip Up LEGO Indiana Jones

Game News - LucasArts And Traveller

If they made a tongue-in-cheek LEGO version of the Star Wars universe, and are currently putting Batman through a similar treatment, why not do the same with... Indiana Jones, for instance? I don't really know if this was the particular reasoning behind LucasArts' and Traveller's Tales' decission, but the fact is that the two companies are once again joining forces, in order to create a LEGO Indiana Jones game, based on the first three movies with the super-archaeologist played by Harrison Ford: "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade".

Without any kind of estimative release date, all we can do is hope that LEGO Indiana Jones will be out before Indy's next movie, which is set to premiere on May 22, 2008 (story). And also around that time, we can expect to start playing the genuine next-gen Indiana Jones game, currently planned for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Although we still don't know what platforms LEGO Indiana Jones will be released on, how it will play like, or even how it will look like, we can at least make a wild guess regarding the last two aspects, based on the two LEGO Star Wars games. The only bits and pieces of information were slipped in the following statements attached to the announcement:
"In addition to providing the quality bonding time inspired by any good family game, LEGO Indiana Jones delivers something a little different for everyone. Parents will enjoy the humorous take on some of their favorite movies, and their kids get some rousing action/adventure gameplay that may also introduce them to Indy's original adventures for the first time", said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts.

"Indy also presents us with wonderful and memorable cinematic moments. The boulder scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark in LEGO is hilarious!", said Tom Stone, director at TT Games.
