If you’re wondering which game will hold the PS3 by the throat (in a good way) next year, then it’s quite possible that Heavy Rain is your mark. Or at least that’s what Sony (SCEE) boss David Reeves said. And now we have some new info about this mysterious game, even if it’s not of the ultimate-truth-revelation kind.
There was a Games Convention – and there was the showing of a short episode from Heavy Rain – and everyone was ecstatic. But, in comes the ruler of Quantic Dream, David Cage, and he says that, actually, this scene of a journalist being chased by a taxidermist murderer will not be part of the game. It’s a “bonus scene”, as videogaming247 quotes him.
So... the news would be that we still don’t know much about Heavy Rain. What we do know are snippets like these: it’s not a sequel to Fahrenheit, even if it builds upon its inheritance in terms of gameplay. The story will be highly obedient to the player’s whims and there will be more than one playable character. Plus, Quantic Dream found a technological way to imbue the faces of these characters with powerful emotional expressions.
All in all, Heavy Rain promises a lot and constitutes yet another reason to look forward to aging by one year and thus getting to 2009.
