Activision's popular franchise, that caught even Bill Gates' attention at this year's CES, is quickly heading towards 10 million copies sold.
In less than 3 months since launch, the game managed to reach an audience of more than 5 million people worldwide, the American publisher announced. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock features legendary Guns'n'Roses guitarist Slash on its cover, accompanied by fictional guitarists Judy Nails on the left and Lars Ümlaüt on the right. Unlike previous installments in the series, GH III's 60 songs are all master tracks and the game allows for online play too.
A Nintendo DS version is expected in early 2008. Based on the success registered by RedOctane's former franchise, Activision revised its profitability target for the last quarter of the 2007-2008 fiscal year (ending March), from the previously announced $2.3 billion to more than $2.45 billion.
