
The Guiness Book of World Records has been kind enough to allow us to sneak in and sift through the world records included in its 2008 edition- the video games domain. And boy, do we have a lot of games to talk about! I'll kick off the list with one of my favorite characters in gaming, Sonic, which now officially holds the record for the, well, "longest running comic on a video game character" (14 years in a row! way to go, bro!), for "the fasted video game character in the world" and for the "best selling game on any SEGA console".
But here is a more detailed list:

It sold more than 6 million copies worldwide, while the Sonic series as a whole sold more than 45 million copies.the "Sonic The Hedgehog" comics series is the longest running, having been published by Archie comics since July 1993best selling retro-game compilation: "Sonic Mega Collection", released in 2002 for the GameCube and in 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. "Myst": the least violent adventure game ever (the game has no time limit, no dialogue, no enemies and no way of dying- released for Apple Macintosh in 1993)
"LEGO Star Wars II The Original Trilogy": most playable characters in an action adventure game (40 characters unique to the game, with other 46 available if a saved game from the original LEGO Star Wars game. More than a million combinations are possible when mixing body parts of the characters.
"Psychic Killer Taromaru": the rarest and most valuable console action adventure. It was released in 1996 for SEGA Saturn and only 7,500 copies were sold (exclusively in Japan). A single copy of the game can reach 100 pounds today.Most destructible action environment: "Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction" (2005)- they definitely forgot Crysis in this one...Most popular Xbox Live demo: "BioShock".
