Shortly after the first Guild Wars: Nightfall PvP preview event (which took place last weekend), ArenaNet strikes the iron while it's hot and announces a new retail package, offering Guild Wars players their first look inside the upcoming release of Guild Wars: Nightfall. Expected to hit store shelves on September 15, the Guild Wars: Nightfall "prerelease bonus pack" - as they call it - will include exclusive character items, an additional character slot, screenshots and more useless goodies.
The main feature of this pack will be a "Bonus Key" for the Nightfall expansion, providing one additional character slot for a Guild Wars: Nightfall account, as well as two exclusive items for the new professions - a Fiery Sunspear of Shelter for the Paragon, and an Icy Soulbreaker of Enchanting for the Dervish.
Also in the box, prodigal gamers will find a Guild Wars "Play Now" key, allowing them to play the original Guild Wars game and the Factions expansion for a maximum of 10 hours in-game, over a 14 day period (in-real-life) from the time the key is activated. And, speaking of useless goodies, the prerelease bonus pack will also include a mini strategy guide, concept art, screenshots, in-game renders of characters and items, preview trailer, wallpapers, lore, quick reference card, music, and... who knows what else!
In other words, everything but the actual expansion. Because, by September 15, Guild Wars: Nightfall won't be anywhere near ready. For that, you'll have to wait until the final quarter of 2006 - or October 26, to be more precise (though less official).
