 At the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2005, Bill Gates, the Microsoft chairman and chief software architect told Time Magazine that his company was planning a novel approach to blunt the launch of the PlayStation 3. "It's perfect. The day Sony launches the PS3 and they walk right into Halo 3".

A year later, Gates made his first appearance at E3 and unveiled the first Halo 3 trailer. Then everybody found out that the game wouldn't be out until 2007, which is months after the PS3's November 17, 2006, launch date.

Now there is another rumor that Microsoft will launch another Xbox 360 game to trip the PS 3's launch. On the Gears of War forums can be found a "BIG announcement coming next week! :)". Now, everybody thinks that Microsoft will announce the game Gears of War which will probably hit the stores in November, since the PS 3 release is scheduled then. But still all this is just a rumor.

"Sounds like maybe the announcement that is going to be made isn't what you think it is", Rein declared. So a new theory emerged. Microsoft will announce that the game will be released for Xbox Live.

The official Gears of War released the first official fan-site kit for the game. Fans can find there 102MB download featureing desktop wallpaper, forum avatar icons, and other items which sport artwork from the title.
