The Locust hoard will make a vengeful return this fall on Microsoft's console, the confirmation coming from Epic's Cliffy B himself.
You've asked for it, now you got it: the game that breathed life into the Xbox 360 when the PS3 and the Wii came out is officially getting a sequel. During Microsoft's conference at this year's GDC, Epic's big kahuna Cliffy B told the audience, after presenting just a teaser trailer with no actual gameplay, but with the GoW 2 logo, that "Gears 2 is going to be bigger, better and far more badass than the first one." Whew...
The announcement is definitely NOT a surprise since the end of the first game left no doubt that a continuation of the fight with the Locust hoard is envisioned. Moreover, since the game sold more than 5 million copies worldwide, it was a natural decision for Epic to give Marcus Fenix and his squad more enemies on which to sharpen their chainsaws. And last, but not least, it was the fans' pressure that kept Epic's designers and developers busy for the last 18 months.
All in all, it wasn't a matter of if, it was simply a matter of when... And now that the rumor about Gears of War 2 has finally become reality, we'll get back to our usual Torque-bow fragging...
