Although many had expected the arrival of the new 9800 video card this November, Nvidia preferred to indefinitely postpone it until 2008. Rumors have resurfaced recently that the long-expected G92 GPU is about to rise on February 19 next year, according to this site. There are some infos there about not one, but two 9800 graphics cards.
Apparently, Nvidia will launch the mainstream 9600 GT model first, on Valentine's Day. What's surprising is that the "sources" quoted by the site indicate that 9600 GT, although built on the 65nm technology (thus consuming less power and packing more transistors) will be inferior to the current 8600 GT model.
Moreover, the launch date for the high-end 9800 (we expect a "GTX" after those numbers) has been rushed to February 19, 2008, from the previously announced March 2008.
We have e-mailed Andrew Hubner, Nvidia's PR manager for mobile and GPU products, on this matter and we'll hopefully have some updates after January 2. 'Till then, keep your fingers crossed and Merry, Merry Christmas everyone!
