Yes, unfortunately, such a calamity has some strong chances to occur. Only this time, the delay, if it happens, isn’t of the type we had to accept from Blizzard or Bethesda, who wanted to make their games as perfect as humanly possible. The GTA IV delay would be caused by the guys in the suits who should play more and think about “hostile takeovers” less. (I never knew why I hated that G-Man character in Half Life – now I know. Him, with his briefcase and suit. He thinks he’s so tough).
Anyway, as you may probably know, EA wants to acquisition Take-Two. The latter say that they’ll start serious discussions about stacks and stacks of money only after the launch date of GTA IV, which is April 29. But the danger of a delay is still all too real, in case EA manages a successful buyout.
Michael Pachter, a Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst, explained the subtleties of the situation on Bonus Round (Spike TV). He says that the guys in the suits are probably lured by the prospect of getting the game out on shelves in the summer high-season. And here’s the why of it, in Pachter’s own words: "I think it will be done and will be street ready, but I think that if EA takes over Take-Two, they have an economic incentive to delay it. If [Rockstar Games cofounders Sam and Dan Houser] feel that there's 2 percent more improvement they can make with an extra few months, then why not?"
It’s a sad world we’re living in, when business interests dictate the happiness of gamers worldwide, swarms of innocent souls with one simple and innocent wish: to once more be a virtual criminal. I’m getting too shakespearian about this, sorry, but I DON’T WANT TO WAIT UNTIL SUMMER FOR GTA IV!!!!
There, I said it, I feel much better now.
