Oh-oh, we're getting a nasty feeling of déjà vu here... The first Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter was delayed more than a couple of times on the PC, before it was finally released in May 2006, and the same seems to be happening with GRAW 2 as we speak. Until a few days ago, we were honestly expecting the sequel to ship this month, or at least this spring. But that won't happen anymore, because Ubisoft recently confirmed a lenghty delay for the PC version of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, all the way to June 2007!
As compensation for pissed-off fans, Ubi has just announced that they will soon open the registration process for an upcoming GRAW 2 multiplayer beta. Sign-ups should begin in the coming weeks, in early April, and this closed beta will feature a map created exclusively for the PC version, called "Calavera". Here are a few more details to go with it:
"The new Recon vs. Assault mode will have players fight their way through this Mexican village near the US border. As a member of the elite Ghost squad, gamers will need to use all of their know-how and expertise to stay hidden and sneak through small winding roads to locate and engage the enemy. As a Mexican rebel, players must be prepared to engage the Ghosts, using high calibre fire power, and must stop them at all cost.
The return of Team Deathmatch will challenge players and their friends to a fight a fight where everything is possible; explore, engage and terminate." The PC version of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is once again being developed by GRIN, "from the ground up" and "specifically for the PC and PC gamers". Does that make you feel any better about the delay? (ed. - rhetorical questions are so exciting)
