For those who don't know, QuakeCon is a PC gaming event. More precise is an annual meeting grounds for those who prefer to frag with a keyboard and a mouse. This year's event got its start at 10 a.m. Central time in Dallas, Texas, at the Hilton Anatole. The whole convention is sponsored by local developer id Software (ed - among other companies), which is the studio behind the Quake, Doom, and Castle Wolfenstein franchises. But the company always sponsored this convention, so is not much of a surprise.
The biggest surprise of the event was the opportunity for the gamers to play the next project of the Quake series, which is "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars". The games was also "playable" at the E3 convention in Los Angeles, only that in this weekend the game will show off a more advanced build.
Now, the winners of the Friday's keynote address by John Carmack, which is the cofounder and co-owner of id, the developer will give away a Quake 4 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory tournament. Also there will be total of $100,000 in cash and prizes up to get.
QuakeCon 2006 will stand its ground until August 6.
