You got to love statistics, even if they are as incredible and staggering as this one. A quick look over the last year's sales result in UK territories reveals the fact that an EA title was #1 on all-format charts, for 27 weeks, which is a somewhat expected yet condemnable situation, given the circumstances: an obvious drop in game quality.
The rest of the weeks were claimed by a handful of publishers, each of them enjoying only one week at the top: Konami, Capcom, SCE and Sega. Even the "happy bunch" comprised of THQ, Take 2, Microsoft, Eidos and Lucasarts didn't resist more than two or more weeks in the craved spot.
Well, I guess it would be hypocrisy to call it a surprise, since the current trend is to make room to questionable multi-platform titles and countless add-ons, while all of us embraced it, more or less willingly. The true irony in all this nonsense lies in the fact that other companies followed the same pattern and still ended up by not even make the list. One of those "unfortunate" examples is Ubisoft, which in my opinion, drew a pretty notable line with all its last year's releases.
