If anyone is still in doubt over Uwe Boll's talent to completely destroy (relatively) good games, here's the proof: his latest movie, In the Name of the King- A Dungeon Siege Tale, barely reaped 3.3 million dollars in the US.
Between January 11 (when the movie had its premiere) and January 13 Uwe Boll's latest fiasco managed to achieve the "performance" of being watched by only 20 movie-goers per session! Despite being offered a "royal" treatment, with openings in more than 1,600 cinemas across the US, the flick didn't convince many people (and that's an euphemism, 'aight?) to buy a ticket.
Kotaku made a simple calculus and reached the conclusion that each daily session brought the producers only... $2,000. Moreover, assuming that a ticket at the monstrosity costs around $8 and that the movie (let's call it that way...) has been presented at least 4 times a day in a cinema, the results show that each presentation has been "profitable enough" to gather the unbelievable sum of... $166!!!
If it weren't for the great laughs we had seeing the numbers, we wouldn't have made the effort of checking the updates on IMDB. It appears that other nations, including Uwe's native country, have been reluctant in spending money on a lousy movie. The opening week end in Germany meant about €696,202 gathered from 454 screens, which shows that Germans are indeed an intelligent and practical people...
Oh, and by the way, the movie cost about $60 million to produce... ha ha! ;)
