
Last week PopCap Games revealed the results of its survey of on-the-job casual gameplay habits for white-collar workers. One of the primary reasons cited by one of the slacker that plays games at work was stress relief. After taking a look at the survey, Electronic Arts said that Dr. Kathleen Hall of The Stress Institute has teamed up with its casual games destination Pogo.com to help raise awareness of the positive impact of gaming on stress.
EA and The Stress Institute are claiming that Pogo's online community itself could help individuals overcome fears of social rejection and that game victories can help with players' self-esteem. According to Dr. Hall, players that take a break from their hectic lives and let the stress of the day melt away by playing casual games lead healthier and more balanced lives. Playing games such as those found at Pogo.com provide needed mental breaks, reduce stress and restore the mind and body connection.
The Stress Institute notes that the health benefits of playing games on Pogo.com include: Stress Reduction, Brain Health, Social Community, Build self-esteem
