Set in the ruthless, but highly-detailed world of Hyboria, Funcom's MMORPG will debut on Microsoft's console in May 2009 at best, according to the game's director Gaute Godager.
Speaking at this year's Game Developers' Conference in San Francisco, the Norwegian honcho from Funcom said that a simultaneous launch of the game for both platforms (PC and Xbox 360) is impossible, with the latter scheduled 12 months later. However Xbox 360 owners will get more content on their consoles when the game comes out.
This is a bit of a bummer for console owners, who are usually left outside when it comes to MMOs. Actually, MMOs are the one territory consoles have not yet managed to undermine the authority of PCs, and Age of Conan HA would've probably been one of the first titles tobreak that dominance.
Unfortunately, since work at the PC version started first (about 4 years ago) it appears that the Xbox 360 version is behind schedule, but the Norwegian company promises adapted controls and a specially designed interface for the latter.
Funcom is also striving to get the bugs out of the source code, with the Windows-version expected on May 20. DreamWorld engine, the middleware that powers Age of Conan, will be compatible with both XP and Vista, but next-gen, DirectX 10 features will only be included in the latter. Here are some new gameplay videos we've picked from around the Web:
