It's about time Bethesda Softworks cut us some slack with all the small and utterly insignificant paid downloads, carrying only a ghostly alluring smell of what could be in store for the community. Strangely enough, in this early period of the year, when the releases are still "reticent" in revealing themselves, the first real expansion to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is marching towards releasing, precisely in Q2 of 2007 and supposedly for more than one platform. According to the latest issue of PC Zone UK, the expansion breaks the shackles of the common condition (to be read cheap advertising), as this time around we're talking about a more (or less) bloodmooninshly full-grown product:
The expansion will offer 30-plus hours of new adventuring, features new quests, monsters, expanded freeform gameplay - quest lines that branch more than before, for example - and a new land "that you can watch change according to your vital life-or-death decisions".
Setting the scene, it's explained that an ominous-looking gate has opened in Nibben Bay, the portal leading to a torn realm - the Shivering Isles - ruled by Sheogorath, the god of madness and dementia. Apparently, adventurers will meet the god and "plough through his trials", but it's additionally hinted that ultimately we may well be usurping the deity. A ETA of Q2 2007 has been given.
However, this will not end the reign of questionable marketing, and thus a few other expansions are to be expected throughout the year. So, let's keep our eyes peeled, shall we!
