Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding option on the Customize menu. Note: You cannot unlock more features if any Customize option is enabled in the Japanese version of the game. Additionally, your shield will not refill as quickly.

| Close Range Level 3 (2x damage) | Accumulate 20 hours of game play, 200,000 shots fired. |
| Close Range Level 4 (3x damage) | Accumulate 40 hours of game play, 400,000 shots fired. |
| Different Characters | Complete the game with all characters, have over 100 Life Skulls on All-Clear screen. |
| High Speed | Have over 90 Time Skulls on All-Clear screen. |
| Invincible | Complete the game under the Hard or Kick Ass difficulty setting. |
| Secret Character | 500,000 shots fired. |
| Shot Level 2 (1.5x damage) | Accumulate 3 hours of game play, 30,000 shots fired. |
| Shot Level 3 (2x damage) | Accumulate 10 hours of game play, 100,000 shots fired. |
| Shot Level 4 (3x damage) | Accumulate 30 hours of game play, 300,000 shots fired. |
| Unlimited Demolition | Find all 50 Nightow Angels. These are secret targets in each level that must be shot ten times. The Secret Characters option must be set to "On". |

Successfully complete the game as Beyond The Grave, Jyuji Kabane, and Rocketbillly Redcadillac to unlock the alternate costumes, sound test, stage select, movie viewer, and enemy rush options and bonuses.
